Bring your lunch, we'll provide coffee, dessert, and a great lecturer. The Lod Mosaic is one of the world's best preserved and unique mosaics, with its depiction of exotic animals, fantastical fishes, and fleets of Mediterranean ships. Measuring more than 350 square feet, this ancient Roman mosaic floor was first discovered in 1996 during construction on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway in Lod, Isreal. Jeff Mishur from Art Excursions explains the mosaic's intricate detail and uncovers the stories hidden in its imagery. The Lod Mosaic will be on exhibit at The Field Museum December 9-April 22.
