WHEELING, IL (NOVEMBER 2011) — The Village of Wheeling in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, the Restaurant Row Hospitality Group, and businesses throughout the community, will soon kick off its Wheeling Wonderland Passport Program. Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Wheeling Wonderland is designed to encourage the community to shop and dine locally, and to promote Wheeling as a destination for family, food, and community fun.
This four-week program begins November 20th and ends December 17th, and revolves around a “Passport” incentive program that encourages customers to shop and dine at participating businesses. Participants will have their Passports stamped with each purchase. For each stamp, participants will receive a chance to win one of the “Wheeling Wonderland” prize baskets, which will hold hundreds of dollars worth of goods and services from participating businesses. These will be raffled in a drawing at the closing event on December 17th.

“With so many unique businesses in Wheeling, we really want to have our residents see all the Village has to offer,” said Peter Vadopalas, Director of Economic Development for the Village of Wheeling. “The Wheeling Wonderland Passport Program gives people another reason to visit our shops, have their passports stamped, and win great Wheeling gifts.”

The culminating festive event will take place on December 17th from 11am to 2pm. There will be plenty to enjoy, such as: live entertainment, music, dancing, face painters and balloon art. In addition, many participating businesses will be on hand to exhibit their goods and services.
Wheeling Wonderland was created in an effort to support local business this holiday season. The shopping Passports will list all the participating businesses and their special holiday incentives. Wheeling Wonderland Passport Program representatives will be onsite at public events throughout the Village during the holiday season.
