The Buffalo Grove High School Concert and Symphonic Bands will present their annual Senior Honors Band Concert on Thursday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in the school's Miller Theater. This annual event is a celebration of music and acknowledges the contributions of BG's graduating seniors in the band program. Under the direction of Ed Jacobi, the bands will perform a wide variety of selections. The Concert Band will first perform a varied program including Clare Grundman's "An Irish Rhapsody," along with Claude Smith's "Anthem for Winds and Percussion," and "Fanfare and Interlude" by John Cacavas. Their program will close with highlights from the Disney musical, Pocohontas.
The Symphonic Band will then perform Offenbach's Orpheus Overture, followed by Elgar's "Nimrod" from Enigma Variations, Hazo's "In Flight," and finish with "Finale" from Tschaikowsky's Symphony No. 4. The concert is open to the public and admission is free. Following the performance, a reception and awards presentation will take place in the cafeteria.
