Help Make Buffalo Grove 'Greener And Healthier Place To Live' At Fair

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — With a mission to raise awareness in the village and beyond, the Environmental Action Team of Buffalo Grove and the Buffalo Grove Park District are holding a Green Fair on Aug. 27 at Mike Rylko Community Park. The free event takes place from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In addition to providing information and activities, organizers are collecting items for recycling and repurposing, including clean and still usable:

• art
• books
• craft and school supplies
• bicycles and bicycle parts
• eyeglasses
• hearing aids
• keys
• vases
• linens (no cushions, pillows or rugs)
• used crayons
• all types of footwear (tie pairs together with laces, rubber bands or zip-ties – no rollerblades or ice skates)
• stuffed animals (no other toys)
• new, gently used or worn clothing (all sizes, fabrics, types – includes pet clothing and costumes, all clean and bagged)
• belts
• scarves
• hats
• purses
• duffle bags and backpacks
• any condition vinyl records
• commercial CDs and DVDs
• used ink cartridges
• Brita brand filters (no other brands)
• pitchers
• musical instruments (no pianos or drums)
• wire hangers
• medicine bottles
• used knives
• blades and scissors
• holiday lights.

Lightbulbs and batteries, besides hearing aid batteries, will not be accepted.
