Shooting Cancels 4th Of July Concert, Fireworks In Buffalo Grove
Following a mass shooting in Highland Park, all activities scheduled for Monday afternoon and night have been canceled.
UPDATE: Due to a mass shooting in Highland Park Monday, all 4th of July related activities in Buffalo Grove have been canceled.
The Village of Buffalo Grove said in a post on its website:
"Due to the tragic events in Highland Park earlier today, all 4th of July events, including the Symphonic Band concert and fireworks display, have been canceled. The Village extends our heartfelt care and concern to our friends and neighbors in Highland Park during this traumatic time."

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — After two years of cancellations and modifications, residents in cities and counties across the country are looking forward to many of the traditional Independence Day activities that mark the summer holiday. July 4 is tomorrow, so there’s still time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.

What: Buffalo Grove Fireworks
Where: Willow Stream Park, 651 Old Checker Road
When: Dusk, July 4
The annual Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band July 4th Concert will also return. After a two-year absence, the traditional Free Family Concert by the BGSB returns to usher in the Fireworks Display and celebration. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at Willow Steam Park.
The Village recommends viewing the display from Willow Stream Park. The event is sponsored by Business IT Source. The fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:20 p.m. Police will be closing Lake Cook Road, Checker Road and Church Road from approximately 9:15 p.m. - 9:45 p.m.

In Palatine, the 65th annual Jaycees Hometown Fest will take place Thursday, June 30, through Monday, July 4. The Festival is located at Community Park, 262 E. Palatine Road. The festival includes live bands, food vendors, adult beverages (beer, wine and hard seltzers), carnival, business expo and craft fair, Family Day, fireworks and many other family activities.
Fireworks are planned to start at dusk or around 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 3. Learn more about the festival here.
