Stevenson High School Ranked as Best Suburban High School in State

U.S. News and World Report released its annual best high schools list Monday.

Adlai Stevenson and Buffalo Grove high schools were ranked among the top 50 best high schools in the state, according to annual rankings released Wednesday by U.S. News and World Report.

The Best High School rankings placed Adlai E. Stevenson High School as the fifth best high school in the state and Buffalo Grove High School as the 16th best high school in Illinois. Stevenson received the highest rankings among all suburban schools in the annual list.

"The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia," states U.S. News & World Report. "Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college."

The report includes information about curriculum, test scores and student demographics.

In the state, Northside College Preparatory High School came in first. The No. 1 high school in the U.S. rankings is the School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas, Texas.
