Local Nonprofit Serves Other Charities by Helping Donors Repurpose Goods
This post can show how your unwanted and surplus goods donated to the right organizations can strengthen your community!

"Not everyone has money to give, but you can still make a difference for those in need with what you already have," says giveNkind.org founder and president, Emily Petway. Raised in Gurnee and a current Buffalo Grove Resident, Ms. Petway and giveNkind have created a one-of-a-kind website to connect donors with new, gently-used, or surplus items to the nonprofits in the community in need. "Nonprofits have such stretched budges and so often, the items they need the most are items someone is looking to get rid of," says Petway. GiveNkind's website allows nonprofits to post their in-kind, material wish list. Donors can post items they are looking to give, allowing both donors and nonprofits to search each other's list to make a connection. While anyone can donate, nonprofits must be registered 501c3 charitable organizations. The site directly connects nonprofits and donors, is searchable, and donors know their items are going directly to serve their community. The site is free to use and was supported by the JP Morgan Chase Force for Good Grant. Donors can receive a receipt for their donation and nonprofits receive items and a personal connection to the donors who give.
