Man Arrested For Obtaining 2,800 Pain Pills Over Internet
Randall Swansen, 41, of Hawthorn Woods, is accused of illegally acquiring the Tramadol tablets, police said.

Federal agents got involved in a recent investigation into a local man accused of illegally acquiring hundreds of prescription pain pills over the internet, authorities said Tuesday. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Homeland Investigation and the Lake County Sheriff's Gang Task Force investigation revealed Randall T. Swansen, 41, is accused of obtaining Tramadol, a schedule IV prescription medication, from overseas companies, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The companies allegedly shipped packages of the Tramadol tablets to Swansen's Hawthorn Woods home.
On May 9, authorities searched Swansen's home in the 0 to 100 block of Foxtail Road in Hawthorn Woods, according to the news release. During the search, they found 700 Tramadol tablets and took Swansen into custody.
Since his arrest, members of the Lake County Sheriff's Gang Task Froce have intercepted additional packages, which contained a total of over 2,100 Tramadol tablets.

Swansen has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony. He posted 10 percent of his $20,000 bail and was released from the Lake County Jail.
