Man Killed In Buffalo Grove Car Crash: Police

The 63-year-old was taken to Northwest Community Hospital early Sunday morning after the one-car accident, where he died from his injuries.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A 63-year-old Arlington Heights man was killed in a single-car accident early Sunday in Buffalo Grove. Police said the accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. near the area of Arlington Heights and Dundee roads.

The deceased, identified as Louis C. Matthopoulos by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, was taken from the accident scene to Northwest Community Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 2:08 a.m. The CCMEO said Matthopoulos died from multiple injuries caused by his motor vehicle "striking fixed objects."

Police had identified Matthopoulos as a Niles resident, but the CCMEO had his address listed as Arlington Heights.

Police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor and there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team was called to assist with crash reconstruction and investigation. The death remains under investigation by the Police Department and the Cook County Medical Examiners Officer.
