“As always during this pandemic, people need to make sure they are practicing social distancing when using Park District amenities; however, we felt it was now appropriate in phase 3 to reintroduce some of the things that have been closed,” said Buffalo Grove Park District executive director, Ryan Risinger.

In May, the Park District reopened the disc golf courses, Happy Tails Dog Park, and all tennis and pickleball courts – at the time, requiring doubles players to wear facemasks. With today’s update, the mask requirement has been lifted; and, doubles players can also play without masks if they so choose.

“We are still requiring people who are not playing or waiting for a court to wait outside the fence, and to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet from each other,” Risinger added.

Additionally, the Raupp Museum has reopened with limited access. During phase 3, the museum is limited to no more than 10 guests in the building at a time. Reservations are being accepted for a maximum of 90 minutes, and can be scheduled by calling 847.850.2135, or emailing museum@bgparks.org. A facemask is required at all times while inside the museum; and, people who do not reside in the same household are expected to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet apart at all times.

While the Fitness Center remains closed for normal operations during phase 3, the facility is able to allow for one-on-one personal training sessions inside the building. Anyone who is interested in scheduling a personal training session, or signing up for virtual online exercise classes, can visit the Fitness Center website at bgfitness.org.

“Many residents have been contacting us, asking when a lot of these facilities will reopen, or why some are reopening, but not others. It has to do with how many people are allowed to be in certain areas, as well as if there is a higher risk of spreading the disease, such as through touching surfaces, or by playing contact sports in larger groups. And, when it comes to playgrounds, that is being mandated by the governor’s executive order that requires all playgrounds in Illinois to remain closed,” said Risinger.

Amenities that remain closed include all playgrounds, and all outdoor basketball and volleyball courts.
