New Potbelly to Open This Week in Buffalo Grove

Potbelly Sandwich Shop will be opening a new drive-thru location at 800 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Buffalo Grove on Dec. 21, store officials said Thursday.

The sandwich shop, which will be located on the corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Deerfield Road,will host its traditional pre-opening “Oven Warming event” on Tuesday, December 20. The shop will donate proceeds from the event to the Elite Soccer Community Organization, which builds the community by developing youth through soccer in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, according to a news release. The fundraising celebration will take place from 11:30 a.m.. and 1:30 p.m. for lunch and 5 and 7 p.m. for dinner.

Michael Zmich, the general manager of the new sandwich shop, has been with Potbelly for more than eight years working his way up from an associate to general manager. The new location will be the first Potbelly in Buffalo Grove. The closest Potbelly locations are currently located in Wheeling and Kildeer.

“The community has already been showing great excitement for the new shop in Buffalo Grove,” said Zmich. “Many of the families in the neighborhood have been to nearby Potbelly shops, but they have been longing for a shop closer to home. We are glad that we can bring our signature sandwiches, shakes, salads and cookies to our neighbors right here in Buffalo Grove.”

To celebrate the launch of the new location, Potbelly Sandwich Shop will consider fundraising requests to support neighborhood non-profit organizations beginning 30 days after opening. The new Potbelly Sandwich Shop will include about 25 staff members, ranging from customer service to managers, according to a news release. The shop and drive-thru will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Delivery service will start immediately upon opening and will be available Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with minimum orders of $25.
