New Site Design Proposed for Woodman’s in Buffalo Grove

The proposed grocery store also includes a fuel center, convenience store, quick lube and carwash at Deerfield Parkway and Milwaukee Ave.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL - A vote to approve a Woodman’s Food Market in Buffalo Grove has been delayed after developers made changes to the project’s layout to address concerns of residents living near the proposed grocery store.

The 240,000-square-foot store, which is planned for the the northwest corner of Deerfield Parkway and Milwaukee Avenue, had originally included a fuel center, convenience store, quick lube and carwash on the south side of Deerfield Parkway.

But after Shorewood Development Group heard from residents concerned about the gas station causing the potential for a fuel leak into a nearby creek or possible groundwater contamination, they decided to move the car wash, quick lube shop and gas station to the north side of Deerfield Parkway, according to the Daily Herald

Those changes mean the proposed plans must head back to the Buffalo Grove Plan Commission for approval and then back again to the village board for an expected vote on Dec. 5.

Based in Janesville, Wisconsin, Woodman’s is an employee-owned and operated store with 16 locations in Illinois and Wisconsin. The grocery chain is known for its large selection of products offering “every-day low prices” on more than 100,000 items sold in the stores.

In the suburbs, Woodman’s has locations in Carpentersville and North Aurora.

Village officials expect the store to open in early 2018 -- or possibly as early as late 2017, according to the Daily Herald.
