OMNI Youth Services Receives Building Donation for New Wheeling Facility

The facility will provide Wheeling residents with greater access to the Buffalo Grove organization's behavioral health services.

Buffalo Grove organization OMNI Youth Services will have the capacity to serve more youth and families after receiving a building donation for a new program facility in Wheeling, Illinois.

The previous owner of the building, Ron Borden, donated the 9,000 square-foot space to OMNI in 2015. Both Borden’s contribution and support from other donors have brought OMNI to $950,000 of a $1.25 million capital campaign goal to open the new facility, named the OMNI Youth Services Family Borden Center.

OMNI seeks further donations for the remaining $300,000. These funds will allow OMNI to reconfigure and update the building to create an optimal space for its services, including after-school educational support, individual and group counseling, community outreach and substance abuse and teen pregnancy prevention.

“The donation of this facility allows OMNI to be more flexible with our services to meet the needs of youth and families,” said Jay Meyer, the executive director of OMNI. “The spaces we’re creating through renovations gives us the opportunity to expand and diversify our program offerings and serve larger numbers of youth than our current site. We’re excited to have a location that is more accessible to members of the Wheeling community.”

OMNI has provided services to Wheeling residents since 1972, previously operating several offices in the municipality. The new family center, located at 210 N. Wolf Road, will reestablish a physical OMNI Wheeling site. The center is set to open on May 1, 2017.
