Pedestrian Struck, Killed By 2 Vehicles In Wheeling: Police

The 53-year-old woman had entered the roadway on foot when the Thursday evening incident occurred.

WHEELING, IL — A Wheeling resident was struck and killed by two cars Thursday night while walking on Wolf Road near Manchester Drive. According to police, the 53-year-old woman died at the scene.

Police were called to the area at around 9:32 p.m. for a report of a person down. A preliminary investigation revealed the woman had entered the roadway on foot and was struck by the cars while walking northbound on Wolf Road. At the location of the incident, there is one northbound and one southbound lane, separated by a median. The residential area has no traffic controls.

According to police, the drivers of the two cars stayed on the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation. Neither driver showed any signs of impairment.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wheeling Police Department with assistance from the Northwest Suburban Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction team.
