Person Killed After Being Struck By Metra Train In Wheeling: Police
Train traffic was halted near Deins Drive while authorities investigated Monday morning.

WHEELING, IL — A person was killed after being struck by a Metra train Monday morning near Deins Drive in Wheeling, authorities said.
Wheeling police and firefighters responded at about 7 a.m. to the Canadian National Railway tracks following a report that a person had been hit by a train.
The person was pronounced dead. Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity until family members have been notified.

The Wheeling Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death in coordination with Metra police and Canadian National Railway personnel.
Train traffic on the Canadian National tracks was temporarily suspended in both directions while first responders and investigators worked at the scene.
