Pit Bull Attacks 2 Women In Buffalo Grove: Police

The women were walking in a neighborhood when the dog attacked, police said. Both women were injured.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL – A pit bull attacked two women who were out walking in a neighborhood last week in Buffalo Grove. Authorities said it did not appear that either of the women provoked the dog when it attacked them at around 9:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in the 700 block of Joel Lane. The women, who are cousins, were taken to the hospital where the Riverwoods woman was treated for injuries to her left thigh and wrist, one of which required stitches, and the Buffalo Grove woman was treated for injuries to her left foot and ankle, Meghan Hansen, a community relations officer in Buffalo Grove, told the Buffalo Grove Countryside.

The dog’s owner told police he noticed the dog was missing about 15 minutes after he let the pet out in his backyard on Joel Lane. He then heard a woman screaming and ran toward the sound, where he found his dog, according to the article.

Now, the pit bull, which was adopted by its owner just two months ago from an animal shelter, is under home confinement for 10 days – a requirement of village regulations, Hansen told the newspaper. Police will investigate the incident further and the pet could face more restrictions
