Plane Crashes Through Fence Onto Road In Suburb: Reports
A road near the Wheeling airport was closed for a few hours Wednesday afternoon, delaying flight departures and arrivals.

WHEELING, IL — A small jet airline craft slid off the end of the runway Wednesday afternoon at Chicago Executive Airport. Officials said no there were no injuries to the two people on board, which came to a stop on a grassy area near Hintz Road at around 12:13 p.m.
The incident closed the runway involved as the plane is removed. In addition, the airport has a safety system at the end of the runway that kept the plane from going farther.
Officials said cleanup efforts are underway and normal operations are expected to resume later Wednesday. The Wheeling Fire Department responded to the incident and assisted CEA personnel on the scene.

The plane was returning to CEA from the East Coast. The airport said the cause of the incident is now under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
