Police Collecting For Toys For Tots Program In Buffalo Grove

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The Buffalo Grove Police Department is once again participating in "Toys for Tots," a charitable campaign started by the United States Marine Corps that benefits less fortunate children around the holiday season.

Toys for Tots officially began in 1991 and has grown exponentially since then, allowing the Marine Corps to donate millions of toys each year, according to a press release. The Buffalo Grove Police Department has served as a collection site for new and unwrapped toys for the past several decades.

"Our agency takes great pride in serving as a collection location and believes this year, more than ever, we have the chance to positively impact local families during the holidays," Police Chief Steven Casstevens said. "This year has been one of incredible challenges, and I strongly believe the police department and the community can come together to make a big difference."

Donation boxes are located in the lobby of the Buffalo Grove Police Department, 46 Raupp Blvd., where area residents can drop off new and unwrapped toys 24 hours a day seven days a week. Donations can be dropped off now through midnight on Sunday, Dec. 6. Members of the Marine Corps will distribute the donations to children in need leading up to the holidays.
