Public Hearing On 2021 Buffalo Grove Budget Planned
Prior to the Nov. 16 meeting, residents can view a draft of the budget online.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — As election season starts to slow down, budget season speeds up. A public hearing for the 2021 Buffalo Grove Budget is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Village Hall and virtually on Zoom. A draft of the Budget is available for public inspection here or can also be accessed at the Village Hall entrance at the outdoor window.
"The Buffalo Grove community experienced a cataclysmic pandemic event in 2020, followed by a major economic decline due to widespread lockdowns of private and public enterprise," Village Manager Dane C. Bragg writes in the draft. "As a result, the Village Board and executive team have dedicated substantial resources to efficiency, creativity and strategy to mitigate the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the organization and the broader community."
According to the draft, the Village anticipates a draw on unassigned reserves in 2020 totaling $1.75 million. Despite the need to use reserves to bridge revenue losses, the organization enters the 2021 budget cycle "with a strong balance sheet with more than $30 million in reserves for operations, equipment, and capital programs."
