Restaurant Signage: Dare to Go Digital

Digital menus allow you to take control of your customers' experience in a way that back-lit panels never could.

You’ve been going to the same family owned restaurant every Friday since you were little. They’ve changed things here and there; upholstered the booths, painted, traded in their old appliances for newer and more efficient ones, yet the sign above the cashier has stayed the same. The letters have smeared, the images unchanged and with every passing year it gets harder to read. What can they do to keep their restaurant relevant? Use digital signage.

How can they use digital signage?

Instead of using changeable letter signs, they could use a digital sign for their menu. It makes the words more legible, is easier to change and can be modified to fit as much or as little as you want on one screen. Restaurants could also use digital signage as an extension of their outdoor signage by displaying videos of events, pictures of the food or even a digital display of their logo.

Is digital signage easy to work with?

Yes, perhaps more so than any other kind of signage as it’s easy to change, 100% customizable and connects to Wifi or LAN with ease. So, when they feel like adding or changing their menu, all they have to do is click a button.

What are the benefits?

Part of what sells a good restaurant is how their food appears aesthetically. With digital signage, they give people a glimpse of what the food would taste like. For instance, a delicious chocolate and crème soufflé or a Cajun shrimp linguini. An HD image of those could do more for their advertising than a dozen different point of sale tactics. In the long run, it’s also easier to upkeep and helps alleviate some of the excess spending for your advertising budget. Rather than spending more money on things that are unchangeable and temporary, they’re investing in a product that adapts as quickly as they do.

What restaurants should use it?

Any! It benefits any small family owned restaurant as much as it would a large world renowned restaurant.

Digital Menu Boards allow restaurants a golden opportunity to alter consumer behavior at the point of sale, enhance brand image, schedule promotions during peak periods, and increase cross-selling & up-selling opportunities. So, if you’re a restaurant owner, take that leap into digital signage and spread the word without opening your mouth.
