Retail Theft Bust Leads To Stolen Car Arrest: Buffalo Grove PD Blotter

A duo is accused of stealing nearly $900 of groceries from Woodman's, while one was also in possession of a stolen car, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

Melissa Lynn Escobar, 36, of the 200 block of E. Washington Street, Des Plaines, is accused of driving on a suspended license, rearview mirror obstruction, and was arrested at 9:10 a.m. May 9, in the 1200 block of W. Dundee Road. She was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of June 9.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

Jay A. George, 43, of the 2100 block of Flicker Lane, Rolling Meadows, is accused of possession of a stolen vehicle, retail theft, driving on a revoked license, and was arrested at 4:11 p.m. May 9, at Woodman's Market, 1550 Deerfield Parkway. Police responded to Woodman's for a theft report. Police related that a female had left the store with a cart full of stolen merchandise. Marisol L. Rodriguez, 41, of the 1300 block of 5th Avenue, Rockford, is accused of retail theft, possession of methamphetamine, and was also arrested. It was learned during the investigation of Rodriguez that George was also in possession of stolen merchandise, total value of $875.17 between the two. Both were assigned court dates of May 10.

BATTERY

Luis Eduardo Perez-Gutierrez, 43, of the 400 block of E. Oak Street, Watseka, is accused of battery, criminal damage to property, and was arrested at 7:40 p.m. May 11, in the 1500 block of E. Busch Parkway. Police met with a complainant, who said he was battered in the parking lot and his phone was damaged by Perez-Gutierrez. He was released after posting $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of May 26.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

Hector Salvador Pena Martinez, 30, of the 1000 block of N. Webster Street, Naperville, is accused of two felony counts of domestic battery (class 4), domestic battery (bodily harm), domestic battery (physical harm), and was arrested at 11:52 p.m May 13, in the 1100 block of Windbrooke Drive. A court date of May 14 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

Police responded at 10:45 p.m. May 10, to a store in the 10 block of W. Dundee Road for a report of stolen merchandise, valued at $84.90. The complainant told police that someone had entered the store after hours and stole merchandise.

BATTERY

A complainant reported at 10:25 p.m. May 11, they were battered by a female in the 1500 block of E. Busch Parkway. Police located the subject and she was trespassed from the property at the request of management.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A Trace Drive resident reported at 12:52 p.m. May 13, someone had damaged the windshield to his vehicle while it was parked at the home. The damage had occurred overnight.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

A citizen reported at 5:42 p.m. May 15, his catalytic converter was stolen on his Hyundai Tucson while it was parked between 6 a.m. and 5:25 p.m. in the Metra train station parking lot, 825 Commerce Court.
