Saint Mary Eagle Scouts Recognized by U.S. Congressman Brad Schneider
4 new Eagle scouts on Sunday April 30th, bringing the troop total to 179 Eagle scouts since it was founded.

Saint Mary Troop 140 in Buffalo Grove awarded the rank of Eagle to 4 new Eagle scouts on Sunday April 30th, bringing the troop total to 179 Eagle scouts since it was founded.
The latest Troop 140 Eagle Scouts were Joseph Bahary, Alex Stencel, Daniel Bayliss and Anthony Sorgani. Each completed an Eagle project benefiting local organizations:
- Joseph organized and categorized into a database all maps from the Reed Turner Woodland Preserve and the Long Grove Park District in Long Grove, IL.
- Alex collected 4 van loads of pet supplies and $1000 in cash for the Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook, IL.
- Daniel planted a tree and plants as well as edged and put down mulch for 560ft to beautify Cooper Middle School in Buffalo Grove, IL.
- Anthony constructed a missing portion of boardwalk across a flood prone meadow at Reed Turner Nature Center in Long Grove, IL.
U.S. Congressman Brad Schneider attended the ceremony and presented the scouts with U.S. flags that had been over the capital. Buffalo Grove Mayor Beverly Sussman was also in attendance. Father Denis Carneiro, Associate Pastor of Saint Mary Parish delivered the opening prayer.

Less than 3% of all boys in scouting achieve the rank of Eagle, this percentage is higher for Troop 140 due to its strong ties to the community, legacy, and dedication from the troop leaders. Saint Mary Troop 140 was established in 1957 and is one of the oldest and largest troops in the area.
