School Staff Member Critically Injured After Being Struck By Pole At Buffalo Grove High: Police
Police said a vehicle leaving school grounds hit a pole Tuesday afternoon, which then struck the school employee.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A serious crash at Buffalo Grove High School Tuesday afternoon has left a staff member in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Dundee Road was closed for over three hours after the incident, according to Buffalo Grove police.
Police said officers responded at about 3:20 p.m. to a crash that began on school grounds as a vehicle was attempting to exit the parking lot onto Dundee Road. During the incident, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole, which then struck the staff member.

Buffalo Grove police officers were already on scene immediately after the crash and provided emergency medical aid. The staff member was taken to a local hospital and remained in critical condition, according to the department.
"This is a tragic incident which has deeply impacted our high school community," Police Chief Brian Budds said. "Our thoughts are with the staff member, their loved ones, and all those impacted during this difficult time."

Police said the driver has been fully cooperating with the investigation. The crash remains under investigation by the Buffalo Grove Police Department Traffic Unit, with assistance from the Major Crash Assistance Team. No charges had been announced at the time of this report.
The police department did not identify the staff member or release additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
