Sente Event Provides Information on Reducing Property Tax Assessments

Sente partnered with the Cook County Assessor's Office to help Wheeling Township residents appeal their property taxes

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, partnered with the Cook County Assessor’s Office to help Wheeling Township residents appeal their property tax assessments with a free property tax appeal workshop last Wednesday.

“The property tax system is incredibly confusing, and so I know everyone was eager for insights as to how to receive relief,” Sente said. “That is why our property tax seminars tend to be some of the best attended events all year.”

During the seminar, staff from the Cook County Assessor’s Office explained the residential property assessment and appeal process, as well as provided attendees with one-on-one assistance with their individual appeals. The last day for residents of Wheeling Township to file their appeals is August 17. Sente encourages anyone who may have missed the property tax appeal workshop to reach out to her office for more information on the appeal process.
