Sente to Hold Vernon Township Property Tax Appeal Workshop for Homeowners
Sente is hosting a free property tax appeal workshop for Wheeling Township residents on Wednesday, August 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, is hosting a free property tax
appeal workshop for Wheeling Township residents on Wednesday, August 16, from 6 p.m. to
7:30 p.m. at the Vernon Township Community Services Building, located at 2900 N. Main St. in
Buffalo Grove.
“Illinois property taxes are a major financial hardship for families,” Sente said. “I encourage all
Vernon Township homeowners to attend my free property tax seminar.”
The Vernon Township Supervisor Daniel Didech, Vernon Township Assessor Gary Raupp and
Vernon Township Director of Constituent Affairs Holly Kim will be on hand to explain the
residential property tax assessment and appeal process in-depth. Homeowners are encouraged to
bring their most recent assessment, a valid government-issued form of identification and any
related documentation to help ask questions. The last day for residents of Vernon Township to
file their property tax appeals is September 5.
During the spring legislative session, Sente voted for Senate Bill 484, which if signed into law
would freeze residents’ property taxes for four years, increase the general homestead exemption
for homeowners roughly 15 percent and provide qualifying seniors, veterans and persons with
disabilities even greater property tax relief.
“Skyrocketing property taxes have made home ownership into a financial nightmare for many
families,” Sente continued. “These free property tax seminars, like the one I am holding on
August 16, can provide residents with real property tax relief.”
