Sente Invites Local Rabbi to Lead Illinois House of Representatives in Prayer

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, invited Rabbi Meir Moscowitz, the Regional Director of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois, to provide the daily invocation, or prayer, to the entire Illinois House of Representatives before the legislative session started last Wednesday.

“Rabbi Moscowitz provided a beautiful prayer on our responsibility as Illinois’ leaders to attend to and raise up the less fortunate and never forget those who our society may easily forget,” Sente said. “I was incredibly honored to have helped coordinate Rabbi Moscowitz’s visit and look forward to continued collaboration with leaders of all faiths throughout our community, as we work to foster good will amongst people of different faiths.”

Sente encourages additional faith leaders from her district who are interested in providing the invocation in Springfield to contact her office, as the House still has invocation openings for April and May. Sente also holds regular meetings with interfaith leaders throughout the year in the district to discuss how the faith community and government can work together.
