Sente Participates in Rural Job Creation Tour through Illinois Farm Bureau

Rep. Carol Sente visited Jo Daviess County to learn about job creation in rural communities

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, visited Jo Daviess County last Wednesday to learn about job creation in rural communities through the Illinois Farm Bureau’s “Adopt a Legislator Program.”

“Illinois’ economy is a vast, interconnected web of communities that spans the financial district of Chicago to the farms of rural Illinois,” said Sente. “Every community is different. But every Illinois community rises and falls together. When rural Illinois is creating jobs, the rest of Illinois benefits.”

The Illinois Farm Bureau Adopt-A-Legislator Program was developed in 2001 with the purpose of building long-term personal relationships between Illinois’ legislators from urban and suburban communities. During her visit, Sente visited multiple farms, where she learned about the corn, soybean, hog and dairy farming industries.

“We appreciate Rep. Sente’s initiative to learn about production agriculture and her leadership in helping create jobs in agriculture – one of the most critical sectors in the Illinois economy,” said Ronald Lee Lawfer, President of the Jo Daviess County Farm Bureau. “It is imperative that policymakers from all regions of the state understand the inner workings of agriculture and their role in creating Illinois jobs as Sente does. Having her visit our farms in the county helps her understand the effect legislation has on our industry. We look forward to her openness and continued visits to Jo Daviess County.”
