Sente Promotes National Police Week

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, is bringing attention to National Police Week, which runs from May 11 through May 17, and is encouraging area residents to show their support for local law enforcement.

“Our district and state are very fortunate to have some of the most dedicated law enforcement officers risking their lives each day to protect our neighborhoods and roadways,” Sente said. “This year, during National Police Week, I encourage all members of our community to join me in expressing our sincere appreciation for our police men and women, as well as remembering those who have lost their lives in the line of duty."

Sente has been a strong advocate for public safety legislation in Springfield and meets semi-annually with local police chiefs to maintain a dialogue on the needs of law enforcement agencies. As a strong voice for law enforcement, Sente was named as the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police’s Public Official of the Year in 2013.

“Through my strong partnership with the law enforcement community, I have been able to champion legislative efforts that will help keep our public safety officials and communities safe,” Sente said. “My regular collaborations have led to the passage of important legislation that cracks down on underage drinking parties, allows reciprocal reporting between police and schools, and most recently, the establishment of the School Security and Standards Task Force, upon which I serve.”
