Sente’s Reuse-A-Shoe Drive a Success

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, announced that her spring Reuse-A-Shoe Drive was successful in providing constituents with a convenient and environmentally friendly way to recycle footwear of all sizes, conditions, and types.

“I want to personally thank everyone who helped to make our Reuse-A-Shoe drive a success this spring, it was amazing to see so many people from all across our community stop by my office to donate their unwanted footwear to this unique program,” Sente said. “As Vice-Chair of the House Environment Committee and an avid recycler, I enjoy identifying new ways to make recycling a fun and convenient activity for local families. Throughout the year, my office offers a variety of other environmentally themed outreach events, including electronics recycling and shred days, environmental citizens’ advisory committees, and cellphone recycling drives.”

Sente’s office received 248 pairs of shoes during her spring shoe drive. All the shoes collected during the months of March and April were donated to the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County’s Shoe Recycling Project where they will be reused, repurposed, or recycled depending upon their condition.

For more information, please contact Sente’s full-time constituent service office at (847) 478-9909, or email RepSente@gmail.com.
