BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
HARASSMENT THROUGH ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

A Cherbourg Court N resident reported at 7:09 p.m. Aug. 6, receiving three text messages, from three unknown numbers, demanding money and threatening their family.
CUSTOMER/MANAGEMENT DISPUTE

- A customer's debit card was declined at 9 p.m. Aug. 6, after they pushed the "pay inside" and received the gas at the BP Station, 540 N McHenry Road. An agreement was made for the customer to return at a later time and pay the amount owed.
- An employee called police at 6:22 p.m. Aug. 5, to report a customer was unhappy with the service they received and demanded a refund at Veterinary Specialty Clinic, 1515 E Busch Parkway. The customer left when asked to do so and was later told by police not to return.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Weidner Road resident called police at 10 p.m. Aug. 6, to report someone used his social security card to open a bank account.
SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALLS
A Rose Court West resident reported at 2:48 p.m. Aug. 7, receiving numerous phone calls from an unknown number in a short time frame. When he finally answered, someone was heard laughing and telling incoherent jokes. Officers contacted the suspected prankster, who denied any involvement.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A resident of the 200 block of Chicory Lane reported at 5:50 p.m. Aug. 7, finding a severed head of an opossum in his outside garbage can.

ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A customer wanted the gas station to pay for damages to their car caused by gas leaking onto them and their vehicle at 6:24 p.m. Aug. 7, at Mobil, 10 W Dundee Road. The manager advised officers that they had already reached out to the customer and will look into the incident.
VANDALISM
Buffalo Grove Park District employees discovered eggs, chocolate, syrup and other items strewn around the park at 7 p.m. Aug. 5, at Twin Groves Middle School, 2600 N Buffalo Grove Road. There was no structural damage to any of the equipment.
BATTERY
Officers responded to Astoria Banquets, 1375 W Dundee Road, at 9:04 p.m. Aug. 5, for a fight occurring inside the banquet hall. Upon arrival, police saw several people yelling and cursing at one another. Officers were able to calm everyone down.
DISPUTE
Two employees at a business in the 800 block of Corporate Grove Drive got into a verbal dispute at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 4. One party had already left for the day prior to police arrival.
ILLEGAL DUMPING
- The management company of an apartment in the 1300 block of Johnson Drive reported at 11:16 a.m. Aug. 4, illegal dumping in several of the dumpsters located at the complex. The owner of the discarded items was contacted and advised to stop utilizing the dumpsters.
- A business in the 300 block of Half Day Road reported at 12:16 p.m. Aug. 1, that someone discarded items into their dumpsters. The officer contacted the owner of the items and issued a citation.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
Two bags of groceries were located at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 8, outside the common doors in the 0-10 block of Villa Verde Drive. It was believed the bags had been there unclaimed for several days.
VANDALISM
Graffiti was located on the construction equipment at 9:20 a.m. Aug. 8, in the 1300 block of E Busch Parkway.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident of the 400 block of Hazelwood Terrace called police at 4:35 p.m. Aug. 8, to report someone approached him and his wife as they were unloading groceries at their home. The person claimed to be there to finish landscape work in their backyard and entered their home. The resident saw the person with a walkie-talkie while they were standing by the back patio door. At this time, he also saw two people go upstairs inside the home. The resident yelled for his wife to call the police, and the people left the residence. Nothing appeared to be taken.
MOTORIST DISPUTE
- Two drivers argued over a traffic merging situation at 6:02 p.m. Aug. 2, at McHenry and Lake Cook roads.
- Two drivers reported at 6:22 p.m. Aug. 2, that the other followed them and yelled at them threateningly at McHenry and Buffalo Grove roads.
OPEN DOOR
A landscaper in the 800 block of Horatio Boulevard called police at 4:40 p.m. Aug. 3, to report that they had informed the homeowner, who was not home, that their back patio door appeared to be damaged. Officers responded and confirmed that one pane of the double-paned glass door was damaged. However, the door was still secure.
