Sheriff's Office Issues 179 Tickets During Holiday Enforcement

Police increased its enforcement efforts over the Memorial Day holiday.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued 179 citations during an increased holiday enforcement effort between May 14 and 25.

Sheriff’s deputies worked eight details specifically targeting seat belt violations, which resulted in 85 citations including 47 seat belt citations and a warrant arrest. There were also six DUI patrols, which resulted in 94 citations, including six DUI arrests.

“Memorial Day weekend kicked off summer vacation season and our priority was to ensure that everyone arrived at their destination safe” said Lake County Sheriff Mark C. Curran. “Notice was given that the Lake County Sheriff’s Office would be cracking down on those not wearing seat belts. Those drivers and passengers who chose not to heed the warning were ticketed”.

As part of the national Click It or Ticket mobilization, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with law enforcement agencies across the country to ticket motorists not wearing their seat belts.
