Three Reasons Why Social Media Is Your Golden Ticket for Advertising

Examples of how you can use social media to connect with your customers.

Times they are a-changin’! With the growth of technology and the variety of ways that companies can advertise, social media is unavoidable. Potential customers or returning customers use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Yelp to look for recommendations on great restaurants, hotels and even plumbers. As a business, social media can be daunting; however, the end results more than make up for the headaches. Consider these few reasons:

Word-of-mouth

Incorporating your business’ Facebook page or Twitter handle is free word-of-mouth. For example, say your business posted a single billboard. That one billboard reaches, statistically, 71% of people driving. That means, for every 100 people, you are reaching 71 potential customers. Adding your business’ social media to signage makes sure those people have a way of contacting you, keeping in touch and possibly sharing your page with others. This is also great for spreading awareness. Say you’re a local recycling company who’s proceeds for the next few months go directly to the World Wildlife Federation. You can incorporate a hashtag like #recycletosave on your signage so that when people recycle and post their pictures or tweets, they can tie in the business’ campaign. Thus spreading awareness about the company.

Ease of obtaining feedback

Something that any good business tries to do is get feedback. It’s what helps a business grow, evolve and weed out the things that have the potential to harm growth. Social media is a quick and effective means of obtaining feedback. It also helps to get things done in real time. Although surveys are great, social media adds a new level of control and allows for a faster means of collection and response.

Interaction

Most importantly, and what ties all of these together, is that incorporating social media with signage allows for more personal interaction. Unfortunately, most companies don’t have the ability to speak with every customer or potential customer. Posting your company’s Facebook or Twitter handle gives them the ability to comment at, tweet about, respond to or give a review of your company or its products. It’s also a great way for them to get an inside view of what working for or being a part of your company is like. For instance, Facebook Live. Many businesses are using Facebook Live to communicate with people and let them in on the daily workings of the business and its operations. It humanizes your business.

Whether you’re a fan of it or not, the presence of social media has only just begun. However, it doesn’t have to be a burden, it can be your greatest asset. Whether you’re trying to spread campaign awareness, looking to get more feedback or simply wanting to stay in touch with your customers, social media is your golden ticket. Your best bet is to embrace it and run with it.
