USPS Collection Box Damaged, Store Window Shattered: Buffalo Grove Blotter

Buffalo Grove police also reported DUI arrests, retail thefts, battery arrests and a stolen MacBook Pro.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and arrests made by police. An arrest is not a finding of guilt.

THEFT

A person in the 2300 block of Madiera Lane reported at 2 p.m. June 5, that a male signed for a MacBook Pro that was not intended for him. Police said the subject entered a vehicle and drove away. The investigation is ongoing.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • A slide at 777 Checker Drive was vandalized with the word “KZAXY” written on it, according to a report made at 6:36 p.m. June 7.
  • A USPS blue collection box at 1250 E. Busch Parkway was found damaged at 5:58 a.m. June 9. Police said the box appeared to have been forcibly blown open through the use of fireworks or a similar device.
  • A house in the 600 block of Thompson Boulevard was egged, causing damage to the garage and roof, according to a report made at 8:45 a.m. June 19.

TRESPASSING

A male who had previously been warned not to be inside a building at 825 Commerce Court was found in the building after a second check several hours later, according to police. He was issued an adjudication citation for trespassing at 7:18 p.m. June 7.

RETAIL THEFT

  • A male stole a pack of cigarettes from a business at 50 W. Lake Cook Road at 10:29 p.m. June 8, police said.
  • A group of young adults entered a store at 10 W. Dundee Road and removed merchandise from shelves at 10:13 p.m. June 11. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Three bottles of alcohol valued at $145 were stolen from a business at 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway at 1:36 p.m. June 22. The investigation is ongoing.
  • A male at self-checkout did not pay for $10.55 worth of groceries at 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway at 11:37 a.m. June 25, police said.

ASSAULT

Officers responded to Woodman’s Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at midnight June 10, for a reckless driving complaint. The complainants told police they were being followed by someone who had threatened them inside the grocery store over a TikTok trend involving a hidden purse.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

A Nissan Rogue was broken into in the 0-100 block of Oak Creek Drive and $150 was taken, according to a report made at 4:20 p.m. June 21.

BURGLARY

Unknown people forcibly entered a business at 1026 Weiland Road by shattering a large front window and stealing items from the store, according to a report made at 3:01 a.m. June 28. The investigation is ongoing.

DRIVING WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE

  • Asel Zhekshenbekova, 32, of the 1400 block of Chippewa Trail, Wheeling, was arrested at 8:32 p.m. June 6, at in the 900 block of S. Buffalo Grove Road and charged with driving on a suspended license and suspended registration. A court date was scheduled for July 10 in Mundelein.
  • Jacob M. Peterson, 34, of the 6500 block of North County Road, Frankfort, Indiana, was arrested at 6:12 p.m. June 19, at in the 40 block of Raupp Boulevard and charged with driving on a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. A court date was scheduled for July 17 in Mundelein.
  • Dillon M. Baer, 22, of the 200 block of Shoenbeck Road, Wheeling, was arrested at 11:31 p.m. June 25 near Dundee Road and Lake Boulevard and charged with driving on a suspended license and driving with one headlight. A court date was scheduled for July 17 in Mundelein.
  • Brian Sanchez Gonzalez, 20, of the 300 block of Allanson Road, Mundelein, was arrested at 1:08 p.m. June 27, near Lake Cook and Arlington Heights roads and charged with driving on a suspended license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. A court date was scheduled for July 17 in Mundelein.
  • Anusha Kaam, 38, of the 700 block of Vernon Lane, Buffalo Grove, was arrested at 6:12 p.m. June 27, near Dundee Road and Trace Drive and charged with driving on a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle when registration is suspended. A court date was scheduled for Aug. 14 in Mundelein.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Gustavo Olvera Vergara, 34, of the 500 block of Fairway View Drive, Wheeling, was arrested at 2:26 a.m. June 11, near West Lake Cook and Weidner roads and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device. A court date was scheduled for July 16 in Waukegan.

Danylo Kozak, 20, of the 100 block of Pauline Avenue, Buffalo Grove, was arrested at 2:40 a.m. June 13, near Church Road and Manchester Drive and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. A court date was scheduled for July 8 in Waukegan.

Ulises Garcia-Valdes, 30, of the 100 block of East Burberry Lane, Palatine, was arrested at 10:07 p.m. June 19, near Lake Cook Road and Raupp Boulevard and charged with driving under the influence and failure to wear a seat belt. A court date was scheduled for July 8 in Waukegan.

BATTERY

Andrew Chumachenko, 47, and Oleksandr Serdiuk, 38, both of the 4000 block of North Richland Court, Shorewood, Wisconsin, were arrested at 7:46 p.m. June 12, at 1501 E. Busch Parkway and charged with battery. A court date was scheduled for June 30 in Waukegan.
