The Buffalo Grove Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce (BGLCC) awarded the title of Young Professional of the Year to librarian Ashley Johnson of the Vernon Area Public Library at their annual luncheon on Tuesday, January 7.

The award is new this year. Johnson was selected as the inaugural recipient as a result of her work establishing and growing the Chamber's Young Professionals Networking group. The group works to offer a low-stakes introduction to chamber membership and gives Lake and Cook County young professionals the chance to network and talk about career development with others in the same stage of their careers. Johnson also serves on the chamber’s Business Referral Network steering committee.

Johnson is the Business Outreach Librarian at Vernon Area Public Library, where she works to connect local businesses and nonprofits with library resources.
