Wheeling Motorcyclist Killed In North Chicago U-Turn Crash: Coroner
The 36-year-old man was fatally struck by a Range Rover making a U-turn Friday near the 3200 block of Skokie Valley Highway.
NORTH CHICAGO, IL — A Wheeling man was killed Friday after his motorcycle struck the back of an SUV attempting to make a U-turn near the 3200 block of Skokie Valley Highway. David Drower, 36, was taken to Lake Forest Hospital following the crash and was pronounced dead there in the emergency room.
According to the Lake County Coroner's Office, Drower died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The preliminary results of the autopsy were released Monday.
The crash occurred at around 3:37 p.m. and North Chicago police responded to Route 41 south of Brompton Avenue. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2020 Range Rover made the U-Turn near the 3200 block of Skokie Valley Highway. At the same time, Drower was driving south on his 2017 Honda Sport motorcycle in the right lane.

When the driver of the Range Rover made the U-turn, he drove into the right lane, and the motorcycle collided with the back of the SUV.
Due to the severity of the crash, the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County is assisting in the crash investigation.
