Woman Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run Near Chicago Executive Airport

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, IL — A 33-year-old woman has been charged with leaving the scene of the crash that killed a Prospect Heights man near Chicago Executive Airport in May, WGN-TV first reported.

Janette Domínguez Urbina is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, driving with a suspended license and an additional traffic offense, according to the report.

Domínguez Urbina was denied pretrial release and remains in custody pending an Aug. 21 court appearance.

The charges stem from the death of John Folan, 68, of Prospect Heights, who was found unconscious along the airport’s fence line near the public viewing area at approximately 9 a.m. May 3.

First responders pronounced Folan dead at the scene.

Pickup Truck Identified

Investigators determined that a Chevrolet Silverado struck Folan and identified Domínguez Urbina as the alleged driver, Prospect Heights police told WGN.

Police have not publicly detailed how investigators located the pickup truck or connected Domínguez Urbina to the crash.

As Patch previously reported, officers responding to the viewing area near 79 E. Palatine Frontage Road initially found no witnesses, vehicles or people who appeared to be connected to Folan’s death.

Authorities said early in the investigation that Folan appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. His identity was later released by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The investigation involved the Prospect Heights Police Department and the Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction unit.
