Woman Killed After Car Hits Tree In Buffalo Grove

The 59-year-old Arlington Heights resident died Tuesday night at Northwest Community Hospital.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A woman was killed Tuesday night after her car struck a tree at Lake Cook and Weidner roads in Buffalo Grove. The 59-year-old Arlington Heights resident was rushed to Northwest Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Buffalo Grove police identified the name of the deceased Wednesday morning as Jeneane Richards.

The single-car accident, which happened at around 7:10 p.m., shut down Lake Cook Road in both directions at Weidner Road. The Buffalo Grove police and fire departments both responded to the scene.

According to the Buffalo Grove Police Department, the woman was traveling eastbound on Lake Cook Road between Timber Hill and Weidner. Her vehicle struck the median, a tree within the median and came to rest in the westbound lanes, west of Weidner. The woman showed no signs of life when police reached the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, but police have ruled out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors to the crash.
