5 Families Displaced Following Buffalo Grove Fire: Village
In total, resources from 18 fire departments were utilized to bring the Sunday afternoon fire under complete control.
BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A Sunday afternoon fire at a multi-family residential condominium building has displaced five area families, according to the Village of Buffalo Grove.
One person was taken by ambulance to the hospital for observation, and two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were treated on the scene and released.
The fire department was dispatched at around 11:43 a.m. to a reported fire in the 900 block of Pine Tree Circle South. When units arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was observed coming from multiple sides of the building, and fire was visible within minutes.

According to the Village, a roof collapsed approximately 20 minutes after crews arrived, causing the evacuation of the building. Firefighters then began using multiple hose lines from the outside of the structure to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was brought under control, firefighters entered the building and spent the next hour searching for any hidden fire.
Due to the volume of fire and temperature around 90 degrees, area fire departments were requested to provide assistance. In total, resources from 18 fire departments were utilized to bring the fire under complete control.

The five families were displaced due to fire and smoke damage in the five affected units.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
