100th Birthday Gets Loud In Burr Ridge: Police

BURR RIDGE, IL — Loud music isn't reserved for the young. Their older counterparts can get in the swing as well. Sometimes much older.

About 10 p.m. last Saturday, a caller informed police about loud music at a party in the 8400 block of Heather Court in Burr Ridge, police said. A person at the house in question said people were celebrating his grandmother's 100th birthday. The band would be done playing soon, he told officers.

Theft

• A resident on Post Road called police about 3 p.m. July 23 about a man who came to her door. He said there was a water issue, and he was going to check her pipes. She let him in, but after about 10 minutes, she realized he was a fake. The man left her house after she said she was calling the police. After police arrived, it was found that her bedroom had been ransacked. About $10,000 in jewelry was stolen.
• A number of items were stolen from a boat in an unfinished garage in the 11200 block of 75th Street. The thefts happened between noon July 26 and 7 a.m. July 27. Taken from the boat and garage were six fishing rods and reels, a boat battery charger, life vests and construction equipment. The owner does not have functioning cameras on the property.
• An Amazon package containing a $16 foot wrap was stolen out of a resident's mailbox on July 21 or July 22 in the 6400 block of Saint James Court.
• A trailer was burglarized and equipment inside was stolen in the 15W200 block of South Frontage Road. The report was made July 24.

Neighbor complaints

• Police showed up at County Wine Merchant, 208 Burr Ridge Parkway, because of a loud music complaint about 10:30 p.m. July 24. The musicians unplugged their amplifiers and said they would be done at 11 p.m. Shortly before 11 p.m. the next day, police received another complaint about loud music at the County Wine Merchant. Upon an officer's arrival, karaoke was ending.
• A resident in the 8700 block of Madison Street complained about a neighbor's loud noise about 12:30 a.m. July 25. A man said he would turn down the music at the party.
• A resident in the 7300 block of Park Avenue complained July 25 about the neighbor having a string extended along their property line. An officer referred the matter to code enforcement.
• A caller told police July 23 that a resident on Sunset Ridge was installing a drain pipe from his yard to the street. The information was given to code enforcement.

Other

• A resident in the 8600 block of Madison Street reported at 10 a.m. July 23 that a man was taking photos of houses from a silver and cream-colored minivan. An officer was unable to find the minivan.
• A resident in the 9300 block of Madison Street informed police July 23 that a family member was locking him out of the house because he tested positive for COVID-19 in March. He said he had had ongoing issues with the family member. He has been staying at a hotel since March. He just wanted to make sure he could have a locksmith open the door of the house without breaking the law. An officer told the man that he could enter his own house as long as there is no legal order to the contrary.
• Officer Margaret Scheidel was involved in a minor crash in her squad car about 10 p.m. July 25 near 83rd and Madison streets. She suffered no injuries.
• A resident in the 8300 block of South County Line Road reported damage to a decorative rock, electrical conduits and wiring on his driveway. The damage took place shortly after 2 p.m. July 25 by an unknown woman in a silver station wagon. The report was made July 27.
