3 Burr Ridge Eateries Still Had Customers
Police found patrons in the restaurants, one of which received a warning, reports said.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Restaurants and bars were supposed to be closed to dine-in customers as of 9 p.m. Monday because of the coronavirus. Burr Ridge police checked to see whether local restaurants had closed as required. Three had not, according to reports.
At Cooper's Hawk, 510 Village Center Drive, an officer found more than 30 people still ordering and being served food and alcohol at 9 p.m., according to a police report. The front door was just being locked. The manager told the officer he hadn't received notice. A warning was issued to the restaurant, which is part of an Illinois-based chain with locations in 10 states.
Shortly after 9 p.m., an officer found four customers were sitting with the owner at Topaz Cafe, 780 Village Center Drive, police said. The officer asked the customers to leave, and all departed without any issues.

About 9:05 a.m., an officer discovered that Eddie Merlot's still had two tables with customers and another person sitting at the bar, police said. The officer spoke to the manager, who said the information had not been passed on to him and that he did not know customers needed to leave by 9 p.m., a report said. He said he would make them leave right away. Eddie Merlot's is a chain with restaurants in nine states.
