3 Unlocked Cars Broken Into: Burr Ridge Cops
Key fob stolen from one of the cars, police said.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Car burglaries, the break-in of a house under construction and even a dead rabbit made the latest police blotter in Burr Ridge. Here is the information from the police department's latest reports:
- An unlocked 2019 Porsche on Seneca Court was burglarized between Feb. 3 and Feb. 5. The victim's garage door opener, auto insurance forms, Nordstrom's credit card and Bank of American card were stolen. The victim canceled the cards and reported there was no fraudulent activity on them. The burglary was reported Feb. 7.
- A woman reported that the driver of a white pickup truck rear-ended her about 4 p.m. Feb. 7 at the stoplight at County Line and Plainfield roads. She said the driver then drove over the grass and sped off.
- The employee or owner of a business in the 7000 block of High Grove Road reported a dead rabbit in front of the business about 5 p.m. Feb. 7. An officer helped dispose of the rabbit.
- David S. Samuel, 38, was arrested about 8 p.m. Feb. 7 at 91st Street and Fallingwater Drive on a charge of driving with a revoked license and expired plates.
- A La Grange police officer called Burr Ridge police Feb. 8 about a sexual assault that was alleged to have taken place at a Burr Ridge house in August. A Burr Ridge officer checked the police database and could find no report of the assault at the house, only a report of underage drinking in July. The La Grange officer said she would write a report and forward it to Burr Ridge police.
- Officers noticed open garage doors early in the morning of Feb. 8 on 82nd Street, Enclave Drive and Laurie Lane and tried to close them or notify the owners through dispatchers.
- A house under construction in the 8600 block of County Line Road happened between 5 p.m. Feb. 7 and 7 a.m. Feb. 8. Copper piping was stolen from the house.
- A resident in the 8500 block of Johnston Road told police that her son saw a man in a white BMW sedan take a photo of their house and then possibly remove something from the mailbox about 12:30 p.m. Feb. 8. When the officer was there, the mail was delivered. The resident then doubted whether anything had been taken. The officer reviewed subdivision surveillance footage and spotted a 2015 BMW entering and leaving the subdivision.
- An unlocked Lexus in the 6900 block of Fieldstone Drive was burglarized between 2 a.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 8. Nothing was missing.
- An unlocked 2016 Tesla in the 6900 block of Fieldstone Drive was burglarized Feb. 8. Two jackets, a key fob in one of the jackets and a wallet containing a number of credit cards were stolen.
Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
