5 Burr Ridge Burglaries Since October

In two cases, residents reported thousands of dollars worth of losses.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burglars have broken into five houses in Burr Ridge in the last 2½ months, according to police reports.

Two cases were said to involve thousands of dollars worth of losses. Police said the burglaries remain under investigation.

Here is information from the reports:

  • On Dec. 20, a house in the 10 block of Mallory Court was broken into between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. A woman noticed jewelry missing from her bedroom on the second floor. Police saw an unlocked rear sliding door, with no signs of forced entry. They also reported a broken garage window. More than $25,000 worth of jewelry was stolen. The woman was described as "very shook up" over the burglary.
  • On Nov. 3, officers responded to a burglar alarm about 6:30 p.m. at a house in the 10 block of Devon Ridge Court. The front door was open. A back door appeared to be forced open. Officers found dresser and nightstand drawers ajar in three bedrooms. In the burglary, $7,000 to $10,000 in cash and a 50-year-old Rado watch of unknown value were stolen from a nightstand.
  • On Nov. 12, a house in the 8300 block of Fars Cove was reported burglarized about 5:30 p.m. Two men were seen leaving the front of the house. The family was instructed to stay in their car until officers confirmed the house was safe. The officers found nobody inside, but discovered a broken back door and desk and dress drawers opened. No items of value were taken, except a piece of jewelry worth $200.
  • On Dec. 6, a house in the 10 block of Lake Ridge Club Court was reported broken into. About 8 p.m., the residents were in their car in the driveway when officers arrived. They had come back home from church, where they had been about an hour. They said that when they returned, they noticed lights on upstairs that they knew they had left off. No one was inside. The suspects forced the screen door open and broke the lock. Nothing of value was reported stolen.
  • On Dec. 24, a house in the 9600 block of Pacific Court was burglarized. Police were called about 8:30 p.m. Few details were in the report.
