5 Burr Ridge Police Calls About Businesses

Issues involve social distancing, solicitors, loud music, a maskless manager and a dispute over a dog, police say.

BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police handled a number of calls involving local businesses. Here is information from the reports:

  • The police received a complaint that La Cabanita, 118 Burr Ridge Parkway, was allowing people to eat at the interior bar June 9. The owner said a few customers came into pay their bills and collect leftovers from the outdoor patio once it started to rain heavily. No violations were seen. The owner is regular contact with the village's assistant administrator about her options for the restaurant.
  • As of June 12, the police had received three complaints of door-to-door solicitors from Greenix Pest Control. An officer called the corporate office about getting permits for all its sales representatives. The company said it would alert the regional manager of the issue. Police said if they received further calls, they would issue citations.
  • Police received a complaint about 11 p.m. June 12 that loud music was coming from Capri Ristorante, 324 Burr Ridge Parkway. An officer spoke with the restaurant's manager, and the music was turned off.
  • A resident in the 8400 block of Omaha Drive told police June 8 that her civil attorneys advised her to go to police to help her with getting a replacement dog from a business. She said the contract stated that if the dog was ill, she would not get a refund, but could get a replacement dog. An officer told the woman it was a civil matter.
  • A customer at Wok n Fire, 590 Village Center Driver, was upset June 5 that a manager brought her food without a mask on. She requested a refund, but the manager said because the order was placed through Door Dash, he had to contact that company for the refund. The customer wanted it documented that the manager verbally "kicked her out" of the restaurant after she refused the food.
