5 Business Disputes In Burr Ridge: Police
In one case, employee kept $2,000 given by customer from his boss, report says.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge police have responded to five business-related disputes in recent days. Here is information from the police reports:
- The owner of Your American Windows, 7932 S. Madison St., told police Aug. 21 that an employee had not turned in $2,000 from a customer order since Aug. 4. An officer spoke with the employee, who said he held on to the money since the company owes him $5,000 in lost wages. The officer told the employee that he cannot hold onto the $2,000. It was later returned.
- A resident on Post Road informed police that a man rang his doorbell and left a card for JJ Sealcoating services about 10 a.m. Aug. 19. The resident has a "no solicitors" sign on his front door. An officer called the number on the card and warned the person answering against soliciting without a permit.
- A resident on Camelot Drive told police Aug. 21 that a business called Cedar Roof Repairs and Treatments was not repairing his roof to his liking and had an argument with him. The contractor left after the homeowner said he was calling police. The homeowner did not pay for any of the repairs and had not signed a contract. The next day, the resident told police the contractor called him four times that day. The resident said he wanted to be left alone. The contractor told an officer he was trying to get the money owed to him for the work. The officer told the contractor not to call or visit the house. The contractor said he would comply. The officer advised the contractor about civil remedies.
- Two contractors in the 10S600 block of Oak Hill Court told police Aug. 26 that their former employer had not paid either of them for six weeks for a patio on Oak Hill. They said the employer would talk down to them because of their ethnicity. The employer also had a concealed weapon on his person, which made them nervous. All of this occurred in July. They were advised by their lawyer to have the incident documented by the police. It was considered a civil matter.
- Cotter Consultants, 745 McClintock Drive, complained to police Aug. 21 that it has received eight phone calls from a man who said he was soliciting for the Metropolitan Alliance of Police. An officer called the man's supervisor. The boss said he had removed Cotter Consultants from the call list and has notified his supervisor about the complaint. The officer then called Cotter Consultants, where a representative said she was satisfied with the results. The same day, the police were told by a business owner about a call she received from the alliance, asking her to buy ad space in a yearbook. An officer called the alliance and confirmed it was a genuine fundraiser for the union.
