BURR RIDGE, IL – A man has been selling drugs from his home just outside Burr Ridge's boundary, authorities said.
Sterling Boston, 33, was charged with the felonies of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a gun by a felon, police said.
A DuPage County judge ordered Boston to stay in jail until his trial.
Boston lives in the Hinsdale Terrace Apartments, a complex just across Route 83 from Burr Ridge's jurisdiction.
On Tuesday morning, members of the U.S. Marshals Service's fugitive apprehension team arrived at the apartment complex for an unrelated matter.
Officers saw Boston leaving. After a brief conversation, Boston walked away and reached for his waistband, according to a news release from DuPage County prosecutors.
An officer then grabbed Boston's waistband area and felt a large squishy bag that contained 206 small yellow baggies with a total of 2.3 ounces of cocaine, authorities said.
A search warrant of Boston's home resulted in the seizure of similar baggies, a large amount of marijuana and a .556-caliber AR-style pistol in a backpack, authorities said. The weapon had no serial number.
"Any day we are able to get suspected drug dealers off the streets is a good day for DuPage County," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. "Drug dealers destroy communities and care nothing for their victims, society or the rule of law. They care only about lining their pockets at the expense of others."
