Loud Music Near Burr Ridge? Finger Likely Pointed In Wrong Direction

No one admitted blaming the wrong organization for the noise.

BURR RIDGE, IL – It's rare someone admits a mistake on social media. Doing so seems to violate an unwritten rule.

That could have been the case in the dispute over noise in the Burr Ridge area last weekend.

On Nextdoor, someone accused The Mecca Center, which is near Route 83 and 91st Street, of playing loud music late into the night. Others joined in.

But Mecca members said it wasn't coming from their group. One member said she hoped a particular woman complaining about the noise would find the source.

"Because, as a few have pointed out in this thread, it is definitely not coming from The Mecca Center," she said.

The woman in question was undeterred. She said the noise was coming from the center, saying she lived down the street.

After a while, others came up with the likely source of the sound – the neighboring Macedonian Orthodox Church. Over the weekend, the church held the 52nd convention of the American-Canadian Macedonian Orthodox Diocese.

Each night, the church held a youth dance. On Sunday night, it started at 10 p.m.

The woman in question and others did not admit their apparent mistake, with the woman later saying she did not care where the noise was coming from.

Others expressed frustration with the mistaken finger-pointing.

"People love to make stuff up, and don't bother researching prior to make ASSUMPTIONS," a woman wrote.

Both religious organizations are in an unincorporated neighborhood west of the Burr Ridge village limit.
