Armed Man Was Lookout In Burr Ridge Burglary: Cops

He was part of a crime spree in Burr Ridge and other towns, police said.

BURR RIDGE, IL – An armed Chicago man who served as a lookout for a burglary in Burr Ridge was arrested Monday, local police said.

Armani R. Harbin, 20, was arrested on a charge of residential burglary.

The burglary occurred March 20 at a house on Cabernet Court, near Plainfield and County Line roads, police said. It was part of an early morning crime spree through Tinley Park, Mokena, Orland Park, Burr Ridge, Chicago and Dolton, according to a Burr Ridge police news release.

Harbin is accused of holding a handgun with an extended magazine during the burglary.

He and his accomplices went to two other places in Burr Ridge, police said. In one instance, they entered an unlocked car and a garage, while they stole an unlocked Chevrolet Tahoe in the other case, police said.

Burr Ridge police said they recovered the Chevrolet in south suburban Dolton and helped Chicago police apprehend Harbin and others on Chicago's South Side. Harbin was arrested by Chicago police at that time, charged with misdemeanors and released.

Late last month, Burr Ridge detectives got an arrest warrant for Harbin on the burglary charge, police said. On Monday, he was picked up at the Cook County Jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges, police said.

Harbin was then taken to the DuPage County Jail.
