Ask the Stylist -- Ross Bartolomei, Salon Hype

Question:   love the look of  “beachy waves,” especially in the summer.  How can I achieve this look at home?

Answer:  Beachy waves are totally fun!  If you have curly or wavy hair it's simple.  Start with clean, washed hair, and use a product like Kaze Wave from Shu.  It's the best product on the market for curly waves and it won't leave your hair crunchy.  Start twisting your hair into wring lets.  Next, dry your hair on a low air high heat setting, or use a diffuser if you have one.  But, don’t scrunch!  After your hair is dry, you can separate the waves and give your hair more definition with a must have product called Spray a Porter – it's Kerastase’s latest beach/texture spray.

If your hair is straight, I start out with a product called Tasi Cream from Shu.   Dry your hair with a round brush wrapping the hair around while twisting and spinning the brush outward until your hair is dry.  Then, use the ultimate texture Spray a Porter -- regular hair spray will not work, it's too sticky.  And, as always at Salon Hype we can style you and teach you how to perfect the style at home at our Hype Style Bar available at both of our salons – in La Grange and in Burr Ridge.
