Boys Basketball: Hornets Blitz Blazers in Rout
Hinsdale South 70, Addison Trail 51: Guard Phil Geroge leads dominating second quarter.
The Hot Read: With a slim 13-12 lead late in the first quarter, Hinsdale South forward Bryson Pitts scores five unanswered points in the last minute to help spark a 22-0 Hornets run that kept the game permanently out of reach for the Blazers. The Hornets led 45-16 at the half and 64-27 after three. Addison Trail did manage to score 24 points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, far, far too late as the Hornets cruised to their sixth conference win of the season and 15th overall.
Patch’s MVP: Hornets guard Phil George scored 17 points. He hit five threes and played exceptional defense in the second quarter, picking up three key steals that helped Hinsdale South build the double-digit lead against the Blazers.
Key stats: Addison Trail had as many points (16) as they did turnovers in the first half. 11 of them came in the second quarter. The Hornets scored 27 points in the quarter against the Blazers’ four.
