Does the "new" Spring bob style work for everyone? What if I have curly hair, is the bob for me?
Q: I love the new chopped or bob style that is everywhere in the women's fashion magazines as the new look for spring and summer. Problem is, my curly, wavy hair does not lend itself to this straight, blunt style. Any suggestions for someone like me who loves my curls but also wants to stay current with the trends?
A: Great question but there is no cut and dried (excuse the pun!) answer. There are a couple of rules to follow. First, think about your face shape, then also determine the texture of your hair. You could have curly hair, but is it fine to medium or medium to thick? You said your hair is curly, but do you have a round face? There's a common misconception that if your face is round you can't wear a bob, but, what's important is the length of the bob to make it work for you. The length should be below the chin with layers -- whether it's choppy or not doesn't matter. Either way it can have a slimming effect. If you have an oval shaped face, you want to stay away from layers, but the bob can also shorten a long face. Also, if your hair is unmanageable talk to your stylist about a keratin treatment or an anti-curl process. These two services can restructure the texture of your hair making life easier when it comes to styling.
